spectacular spring holiday DRAMA PROGRAMS 2022

5YRS - 12YRS

spectacular spring HOLIDAY PROGRAMS

Participate in our Spring Holiday programs and get set for a wild ride!

This Spring we are calling all intrepid explorers to join us on a journey back to the famous Isla Nublar, the home of the Dinosaurs brought back to life for the now infamous Jurassic Park. But all is not well on this magnificent, yet dangerous island. It seems a group of mercenaries have arrived with their own evil agenda and it will take the combined might of a group of fearless explorers to put a stop to their plan and save the Dinosaurs from certain doom.  Pack your bags and join the mission in Jurassic Adventure: Let's Get Dino-Serious (Tue 20/9 - Fri 23/9) .

Or take a deep dive into the wondrous world of fantasy and fiction in The Pagemaster: Fiction Takes Flight (Tue 27/9 - Fri 30/9).
It seems that the last few years, a treasury of colourful characters from the page have been invaded! The stories we have all grown to adore are being rewritten by a group of Revolting Rascals who are set on causing trouble in the classic tales! Can you help restore order to the world of fiction or will these fantastic stories be forever lost in the shelves?!?

Participating in TYCs action packed Holiday Drama Camp Programs take participants on an imaginative creative journey that sees our regions young performers make lots of new friends while also improving on their acting and idea-generation abilities, self-confidence, communication and presentation skills, as well as their creativity.

Throughout our 4-Day Drama Camp Program, students develop the essentials of stage performance through improvisation, role-play and characterization activities. They discover how improvisation techniques and the elements of drama (voice, movement, and body language) can be applied to scene work and inject clarity and spontaneity into their performance. In doing so participants develop their ability to think on their feet while performing in front of a live audience. Participants will also have the opportunity to explore costume design as well as incorporating multi-media performance elements such as sound, lighting and live projections. At the end of the program participants will receive a certificate of achievement and perform in a world-wide premiere for their parents and friends on the final afternoon in The Young Company’s own Adventure Theatre Studio.

"I absolutely love drama at TYC because I always have fun & learn at the same time. And I get a chance to be quite loud, mum hates that at home!"

SCHOOL HOLIDAY TOP FAQ
1. What time can I drop my / pick up my child at TYC?
Our doors will open at 830am each morning for drop offs, with the program starting at 9am. The program finishes at 3pm (beside performance day). Please do let us know if you do need to drop off your child earlier or require a later pick up, as we are more than happy to be of assistance.

2. What to bring?
If your child could please bring along a water bottle, lunch and additional snacks each day. They can put stored in the TYC fridge to keep them cool or alternatively we recommend a small school esky. We also ask that lunches and snacks do not contain nuts, due to other students’ food allergies.

3. What to wear?
We ask that your child wears comfortable clothing each day (ie: shorts and t-shirt). On your child’s performance day, we ask students to please bring along theatre blacks (a black t-shirt/singlet and black tights/shorts/trousers with no visible labels on it). They wear these underneath their costume during the performance. We also have TYC black t-shirts available for purchase from the Box Office. Please just ask one of our facilitators for more information.

4. What happens during break times?
During the supervised break times at TYC students are more than welcome to sit back and relax and watch a movie (selection from appropriate G and PG ratings, please see our team if any queries) in our foyer or adventure theatre. Or play a board game from the TYC games box with other participants, make some unique creative art work for the TYC Art Deco Wall or read a book in the TYC Library.

5. What happens on the performance day?
For students participating in our 4-Day Programs, they are required to remain at TYC from 9am through to 545pm when their performance finishes. We ask that on their performance day that they pack additional snacks for their extended day. Your child’s world wild premiere will commence at 5pm and run through to approximately 545pm. We ask audience members to begin arriving 10mins prior to the show starting. For students participating in our 5-Day Program, their performance showcase will premiere at 3pm and run through till approx 430pm / 5pm.

6. Can I lay-by a position within the program?
For parents wishing to organise a payment plan to secure a place in our school holiday program please just email us here and we can set you up on our Ezidebit Direct Payment Plans.
