ATYP Teacher PD Morning!
HOLIDAY PROGRAM EXCITEMENT!
Rob also worked with the students in the Holiday Program, Adventure Timez, to build character and physicalisation. The kids had a lot of fun and I'm sure they learnt a whole boatload of new things! When the session was over all I could hear was excited chatter throughout the building about how fun it was and how much everyone learnt, I'm sure the excitement was relayed to Mum and Dad in the car ride home and at the dinner table!
Doesn't it sound like a whale of a time?? If you love what you are reading and seeing then CLICK HERE to book for next week's program Wizarding Worlds, a week all about mythical beasts!!
We hope you had a fantastic Easter and we hope that you are finding these holidays to be a nice relaxing time!

SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAMS!
The school holidays are nearly here, have you booked for the holiday programs? If you get bored over the holidays or just can't get enough drama then these are the programs for you! They run for four days from 9:00am-3:00pm and on the final day all participants get to perform in front of their friends and family. The four days are full and games and rehearsing as each participant gets to work with a group to create their own scenes! We also give everyone a chance to design some props and costumes as well as practice performing with the stage lights and sound, perfect for the upcoming ShortCuts festival!!
The Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP) will be joining us in Holiday program one to work with the participants on developing character so book fast because it is a week not to be missed!!
Hayley Gillespie will be working with both of our programs to produce some zany costume pieces and props and anything you make you get to bring home! Imagine wearing that blue monster on your head to the shops!
If these programs sound like your sort of party then CLICK HERE to get more information and book! Spots are filling up fast so get in quick!
As you have probably guessed the ShortCuts festival is only a handful of weeks away! That means that most classes only have about 11 hours left to put their performance together!! To make those 11 hours glide smoothly I suggest taking some time out during the holidays to learn your lines so that when we come back for term 2 we are rocking and rolling and ready to go!
It's also SUPER important to make sure you bring yourself, a water bottle and your script to each and every class!!!! Every second counts! Make sure to check your ShortCuts performance schedule as it has all the information about when Tech runs are and when the actual show is on, right it in the calendar, on the fridge, maybe even your forehead!
If you are new to line learning or would like some new strategies when learning lines then we suggest checking out our LINE LEARNING GUIDE! We have compiled some of the best ways to learn lines and put them all in this handy dandy list so print it out and chuck it on the fridge!
If you have lost your script OR you want to new pretty one you can locate our electronic scripts by heading over to the Log In section of our website. All of the login details are in our newsletter that was given out earlier this term! From there you just click on the Semester One Scripts option that pops up and locate your child's class which will have a link to download the available scripts! So there isn't any excuse for not having a script!

DON'T MISS OUT!
After an exciting rehearsal period the 48 Shades of Brown cast are ready and pumping to hit the stage this Friday night! This awesome, not to mention hilarious, show opens with an amazing cast this Friday, running through to Saturday. The performance is the first Mainstage of the year, not to be missed! Packed with funny moments and relatable scenes 48 Shades of Brown is sure to be the best show of the term!
A few months ago Dan had to make a choice. Go to Geneva with his parents for a year, board at school or move into a house with his uni student, bass-playing aunt, Jacq, and her friend, Naomi. He picked Jacq's place. Now he's doing his last year at school and trying not to spin out. Trying to be cool and trying to pick up a few skills for surviving in the adult world. Problem is, he falls for Naomi & things become much, much more confusing. As Dan fumbles through the process of forming a relationship with someone he also learns about making pesto, interpreting the fish tank scene from the film Romeo + Juliet, why almost all birds are one of the 48 shades of brown and why his best course of action is just to be himself.
If this sounds like the play for you then head onto TicketLink to book your tickets or CLICK HERE! Doors open at 6:40pm for a 7:00pm start with a 20 minute interval in the middle. Read on to learn about the cast, crew and rehearsal process!

MEET THE CREW!!
If you've ever wondered how a production gets put together then these are the people you need to talk to! If you see anything onstage or the costumes on the actors, even the sounds you here, it all comes down to the crew! As a crew we start preparing right at the beginning of the cast rehearsals, putting together designs and making lists of all the lists that need to be made. For 48 Shades of Brown we have been lucky enough to have an excellent team!
Tom Williams and Darcy Maher- Tech Team
Tom and Darcy have been working in tech since the day they were born. They have a combined production list of at least 3 million productions and don't plan on stopping anytime soon. They have been working tirelessly, designing and programming lights and sound to get the best out of our stage.
Skye Simpson, Amber Eustice and Charlotte Murray- Stage Managers
Skye, Amber and Charlotte have been working day and night to bring this performance together. As you're watching the show try and count the number of props that enter and exit the stage, I guarantee that you will lose track, these girls however, are all over it like a rash.
Francesca Kunz and Ellie Johnston- Design Team
Francesca and Ellie are two of TYC's most experienced Design Managers. They have worked on a multitude of performances and dressed thousands of actors. Without them you would see our cast standing helplessly on stage... in their undies... not a pretty site. These girls are the masters of disguise!
Michael Elliott and Evelyn McGuinness (me!)- Director and Production Manager
We're secretly ninjas...don't tell
What happens during a show?
Well, during a performance a lot of things are going on, let's count them:
1) The tech team are working the tech box, lighting our stage and giving us sound, a full time job.
2) The stage managers are backstage giving out props, organising cast and opening curtains, without them nothing would happen!
3) The design team dress the cast before the show and do touchups during interval. While the cast are onstage the design team are doing whatever needs doing, holding things, folding and taking care of costumes.
4) The cast are onstage performing
5) Mike and I sit in the audience and enjoy every minute of it!
And there is soooooo much more but this list would become a post in itself!!
48 Shades of Brown is one not to be missed so get in quick and book your tickets HERE! We can't wait to see you at TYC this weekend!!!
